Imagine a packed plate of sweet tomatoes, briny olives, savory onion, crunchy cucumber, and tangy feta—without any lettuce filler—and you've got horiatiki salata, the real Greek salad. As with any ingredient-driven dish, sourcing high-quality components and bringing out their best was a must. Ripe, sweet tomatoes made for bites bursting with fresh flavor and a creamy Greek feta brought richness to the lean vegetables. Finished with a drizzle of oil and vinegar, we tossed vegetables with each component, ensuring that the mixture was lightly but evenly dressed.

While short ribs are usually cooked slowly on low heat, boneless short ribs get perfectly tender on the grill. With this recipe, you can pair with one of two sauces; our Preserved Lemon–Almond Sauce for a punch of citrus flavor, or our Kimchi-Scallion Sauce to achieve a tangy complexity. Whichever you choose, you’ll love the deeply savory and tender result of this always-delicious dish.

Triple-Chocolate Sticky Buns

To take sticky buns over the top, we added three types of chocolate: bittersweet and milk chocolate in the filling and cocoa powder in the sticky caramel topping. To ensure that the buns were ultratender, we used a Japanese bread-making technique called tangzhong that called for microwaving a portion of the dough’s flour and milk. By sprinkling on milk chocolate chips and rolling them up in the dough, they delivered just the right amount of sweetness plus delightfully creamy pockets of chocolate.

This custardy, apple-filled, crisp-edged pancake is perfect for a show-stopping breakfast.
